Since the taming of the horse, she has become an indispensable helper for man. Thanks to her, it was more convenient and much easier to work, travel and participate in battles – people at all times treated the horse like a family member. Therefore, it is logical that equestrian sport has received such a wide development in almost all over the world.
Equestrian sport is a concept that unites various sports games of people on horseback. There are many varieties – dressage, show jumping, triathlon, driving, runs, vaulting and others. To say exactly when this or that kind of equestrian sport appeared was difficult. But for the first time at the Olympics, athletes with their horses competed in show jumping, triathlon and dressage in Stockholm in 1912.
Equestrian sportsIn the territory of our country, active development of equestrian sports began in the 18th century, when specialized clubs and societies began to open for riders. In the USSR, there were world-class horsemen (Viktor Asmayev, Alexander Blinov, Ivan Kizimov, Elena Petushkova and others), they brought 15 medals to the country, of which 6 were gold. In 1996, Russia hosted the first international equestrian sport tournament (Volvo World Cup stage) for the first time. In our country there are quite promising riders who are already representing Russia in international equestrian competitions.

Contest is the most popular type of equestrian sport. In essence, this is overcoming obstacles. Usually at competitions in jumping them from 8 to 16, and some of them are a chain of several obstacles located very close to each other – they are called systems. Competitions in jumping can take place both on the open area and in the arena. Obstacles are easily destructible, and penalty points are awarded for their destruction. The rules on which the competition for show jumping can be very different. At the Olympics, the following rules are valid:
1. For the destruction of any part of any obstacle, as well as for the refusal to overcome the first obstacle, 4 penalty points are awarded.
2. For refusal to overcome the second (any subsequent) obstacle, as well as for the fall of a man from a horse – should be disqualified
The counting rules are simple and make jumping even more spectacular of equestrian sports.

Each horse needs its own specific approach, in order to earn the right to be a rider with little one whip and treats, you must learn to understand and not be afraid of a horse, only then will he entrust himself to control himself. Equestrian sport is one of the most beautiful views; the synthesis of a neat rider and a graceful horse is a fascinating sight. Perhaps that is why many directors like to use this combination in their films – “High Blood”, “Hidalgo”, “My Lucky Star”, “Abduction of the Champion”, “Horsemaster”, “Horses of Valdez” and others.
